Kundalini Yoga
While the ultimate aim of yoga is beyond any particular technique, such practices can make it easier to tap one’s highest potential. In this DVD, several key yogic breathing techniques will be sequentially explored: cleansing breath, ujjayi, kapalabhati, breath of fire, sitali; some of the dynamic and static poses also included are: camel ride, mortar/pestle, staff (dandasana), heroes, dynamic seated forward fold, cat/cow, cobbler, squat/frog, dangling uttanasa, tree, dynamic warrior II, hara pumps, uddiyana (nauli), powerful pose, down dog, dynamic cobra/wisdom (salamasana) poses, bridge with dog pant breath, face of light, sage twist, and mahamudra. Also touched upon are the chin, abdominal and root mudras. In Set One (33:10), we start with a short meditation of intentional and attentional composure, making our minds more serviceable. As we reacquaint with and exercise the yogic principles of practice, we warm and open the core of the body, relax, loosen and nourish the entire physical. In Set Two (39:00) we continue coordinating the body and mind, further opening to our core~ the main target of our practice~ while energizing the vital centers. This second set is challenging and is offered as encouragement to the student to gently press forward in his/her knowledge and practice of yoga.
Chakra Attunement (5:00) in corpse pose (savasana) can be practiced at the end of either the first or second set. It can be done solely as a meditation on its own. It is also excellent as a nighttime practice in bed before falling asleep which promotes a healthy, restful, and sound sleep.
