Pastor Walter Poston

Walter L. Poston received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in Chicago, Illinois the summer of 1978. He was later baptized August of 1978 at Ayers Chapel Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) in Kirchgoens, West Germany while serving his country in the U.S. Armed Forces.

While in Germany, Poston participated in the Adult Choir, Bible Band, Bible Institute, Prison Ministry, the Brotherhood Ministry and prayer meetings. He received the baptism of the Holy Ghost on December 31, 1979.

After returning to the United States, Poston joined St. John COGIC, June of 1980. He began working closely with his Pastor in revivals, street preaching, bus ministry, teaching Sunday school and the drug recovery department at Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago. Poston still wanted to do more for the Kingdom of God. July of 1983, God called him to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and he was blessed to receive his Minister license.

After serving 10 years at St. John COGIC, Poston’s memberships included Reeves Temple and Abounding Life COGIC churches where he continued serving on Street Ministry Teams and as the men’s adult Sunday school teacher. Fall of 1995, he was ordained into the five fold ministry as a Pastor through the Church of God in Christ - 1st Jurisdiction in Chicago, IL.

The fall of 1999, Pastor Poston began pastoring House of Refuge Church of God in Christ located in Park Forest, IL. As Senior Pastor, he shepherd hundreds of souls, counseled individuals & families and led countless of souls to the Lord. His assignment changed as God told him to “Go Back to Egypt and Get His People out of Bondage”! Therefore, the church came out from behind the four walls into the highways and hedges.

Pastor Poston received additional trainings and certifications as a Volunteer, Mentor and Instructor through Prison Fellowship Ministries (PFM), Networkers for Life Prison Ministry and Men of Character Outreach Team. Serving with these ministries afforded him to travel and minister in Illinois, Texas and currently in Nevada going into County and State - Jails, Prisons and Transitional Housing for youth and adult inmates.

Pastor Poston has two adult children and one granddaughter. His wife, Evangelist Pamela R. Poston, serves in ministry with him teaching and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They received a divine assignment to relocate to Las Vegas, NV in October 2009 to continue serving in outreach ministry. They currently are pastoring, Highways and Hedges Outreach Ministries in Las Vegas where they are Pastoral Counselors at a Pregnancy Medical Center, as well as the State of Nevada - Representatives for church training through Prison Fellowship Ministries; preaching and teaching weekly at Men and Women State Prisons throughout Nevada.
