LINGUINE CAVETTI

Elisha Shapiro, the rubber-faced physical comedian who plays Linguine, somehow manages to convey the entire gamut of human emotion without ever speaking a word.  Along with Kent Weishaus who plays his brother, Lamborghinni Cavetti, Elisha makes up one-half of the most unusual—and endearing—comedy teams in magic.  “When we first started doing the show, I felt the dialogue Larry had written for me distracted from the physical business,”  Elisha recalls.  “I asked him if I could give my lines to Kent and just do the character as a Silent.  Larry gave me the go-ahead, and the rest is history.”

Training in mime and dance provided Elisha with the foundation he needed to build the most unique character of his theatrical career, and, paradoxically enough, his appearances with Larry have led to film and television appearances of his own, including “Waxworks II: Lost In Time”, “Into The Night” and “Nihilist’s Corner”, along with his continuing participation in the prestigious Los Angeles theater company, L.A.C.E. (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions).

Despite his busy workload, Elisha holds a special place in his heart for Linguine, and he relishes the ambiguity of his silent character.  “No one knows for sure if Linguine can talk or if he simply chooses not to speak.  That’s part of why he’s so funny, because you never know if he might suddenly blurt something out unexpectedly.  He just hasn’t done it yet.”
