Return To AT TrailQuest Home Page

A photo album, "T-Shirt Transfers", has been added to the list of photo albums at the AT TrailChat Club. However, only members of the club can view the photo albums. To access this album (or to join the club), select "Chatroom" in the navigation box on the AT TrailQuest Home page, which will take you to the club's home page in Yahoo. Then select "Photos", then "T-Shirt Transfers".

Additional images will be added occasionally. If you have an idea or a design for an addition, please let me know.

The images in this album can be downloaded to your PC. Then, using your own printer, transfer, shirt and iron, a "printed" T-shirt can be created. However, the transfers are not nearly as durable as silk screening. The type of transfers that you will need will depend on what kind of printer you are using. The transfers can usually be purchased wherever PC stuff is sold, just make sure that the transfers you buy can be used with your printer.

The following procedures have worked on my PC. I use Windows 95B, IE 5.5 browser and a Hewlett-Packard Deskjet 670-C printer. If my programs and icons are different from those on your PC, try to find the programs and icons on your equipment that do the same things. I will be glad to assist anyone who has problems, however, you probably know someone who knows a lot more about PC's than I do.

These are the steps that produced a printed T-shirt on my equipment in the "test run" (good luck!) :

1 - In the "T-Shirt Transfers" photo album, right-click the image you wish to download. Select "Save picture as" and select the file where the image will be stored in your PC (mine is stored in "My Documents").

2 - Open the file by double-clicking it, and it should open in "MGI Photo-Suite".

3 - Select the "Mirror" icon to "flip" (reverse) the image (otherwise, you will have a "backward" image on your T-shirt).

4 - Select the File tab, then select "Print Preview".

5 - Select "Size To Fit"

6 - When you are ready, select the "Print" icon, however, follow the instructions on the transfer carefully concerning the settings for the printer.

7 - Install the transfer on the T-shirt according to the instructions that come with the transfers. This will require a hot iron, a flat surface and probably some trial and error.
